MISSION   STATEMENT

Steel Magic Northwest exists to teach music, teamwork, discipline, and leadership, and to build community in the context of the modern steel orchestra.

Our specific goals are to:
•    provide a safe, family-structured after-school environment where kids can learn not only music, but also discipline, teamwork, the value and rewards of hard work, and leadership skills as they move up in the ranked bands.
•    provide a rich environment for adult learning in social steel bands, where people of all ages and from diverse backgrounds can bond through the unifying power of music.
•    educate and entertain the general public with the music we make, in our indoor concert series, and in free outdoor public performances in the area.
•     train regional music educators, so that the many unused steel band instruments in Puget Sound area public schools can be put back to use.
